| Review: | Two tiers price policy Take notice that Lan, operating within Peru, has a two tiers price policy. Foreign or "extranjero" pay 2/3 more than Peruvian or "nacional". For example a two way flight from Lima to Cusco, it will cost a Peruvian $117 while a tourist will pay $419. This is like Peter robbing Paul to give Juan a price break. Lan is the only international airline that I know that practiced this discriminatory and biased tariff. Avoid Lan while traveling within Peru....Look for Star Peru or Taca airlines that have a one price for all policy. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | No problems! New York to Santiago and Santiago to San Francisco without any problems, food and wine was good. I flew American from Seattle to New York in the same trip and I was not even offered food to buy. No complaints about LAN. Excellent entertaiment system in every seat. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Horrible meal service, rude staff. Flew from New York to Buenos Aires, and from Montevideo back to New York. Requested gluten-free meals 2 days before the flight. Even though the first dinner tasted edible, it was contaminated and gave me severe food poisoning for my whole vacation trip. The following lunch and dinner that were supposed to be gluten-free were confused with Veggie. Couldn't eat. For breakfast I was served boiled apples that tasted so bad that I couldn't eat either. A replacement was denied. On a domestic flight on the way back, gluten-free request was forgotten. As an alternative, I was given a half-rotten fruit. Staff was rude. Never again. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Lost lugagge I arrived to Santiagos airport 3 hours before the departure of my flight to Madrid. The queue was not long and LAN had more than 10 staff on duty at check in. But it took at least an hour to checkin, staff just closed the check-in counters and left a sign: Closed position. After a while they had only two counters open. Most passengers started applauding when the line advanced one passenger at the time. When it was my turn they could not find me on their computer system! I was lucky to have copies of my booking and all details printed. When boarding it was chaos again, they were over-booked. I managed to get onboard. At my arrival to my final destination my luggage did not arrive. Is one week since, this LAN trip was together with Iberia. NO news after several phone contact with their offices in Europe. Very arrogant and not service minded personnel. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | Well thanks LAN, you got me there within a week! LAN fucked me over hugely, I had to stay in Lima a week longer then planned to get a visa to the US I did not actually need, coming from Australia, and staff actually looked for reasons not to let me fly. Cheers Comments [ 1 ] |

| Review: | Baggage handling nightmare In short, LAN is great if everything goes smoothly, but if anything goes wrong you are on your own. I have travelled from Europe to South America once or twice a year for 22 years. In all these trips I have lost my luggage twice, both times with LAN. My actual travel experience was so good (nice food, comfy seats, pleasant staff) that my lost luggage was soon overlooked and I booked again with LAN the following year and highly recommended them to anybody who asked (I am in the travel business) But my lost luggage experience the second time was a complete nightmare and I would NEVER TRAVEL AGAIN WITH LAN, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. My luggage arrived a day and a half late, by which time I had continued my journey home being promised that my luggage would be sent on. It took two worrying & stressful weeks. I called the number I was given at the airport time after time day after day, but they only answered about every 3 days, each time a different person and they seemed to keep no notes or record or the case and never returned my calls. I called the number on the web site, they confirmed my luggage was in Quito and kept telling them to send it but could give me no reason why it didn't get sent. I wrote to the luggage help and customer service emails on the web site TWICE and NEVER got a response from either. Finally i spoke to the store room man, who retrieved my bag, took it through customs and said it would be sent. Nothing arrived, nobody answered the phones. 12 days after my arrival the phone was finally answered by the supervisor I talked to at the airport when I arrived. I gave my case number and she started shouting at me, telling me my bagage was in customs, that I had to return to Quito to get it! After a minute or so she finally stopped shouting at me and let me get a word in. 2 days later I got my bag - no apology, no explanation. Comments [ 2 ] |

| Review: | Not bad stop complaining beinga frequent flyer to South America I will always pick LAN over other carriers - they are punctual, food is edible and they have good IFE. Their planes are clean and staff well trained. Ok so they are not as friendly as say TAM or Avianca but then I wouldn't trust those airlines to ever leave or arrive on time. Aerolineas has great food and pretty flight attendants but you wonder if they will cancel your flight or go bankcrupt again. Their flight attendants are not friendly but I will take that over saftey and as much comfort even better than most airlines - has anyone flown American to south america.... they are a mess old planes, dirty , sullen FA's and food thats not fit for a dog no IFE either. They are not the cheapest and yes they have grown quickly and need to readdress their customer service but they are better than anything else on US to S.Am routes Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | RUDE TO IMPAIRED BUT FAITHFUL PASSENGER I used to be a great fan of LAN ever since I came to live in Chile over 17 years ago. I even made what I thought was friendly relations with several people in management, to whom I would faultlessly send a detailed trip report after each flight. I had been seeing deterioration in service at various levels for some time, but this was more than confirmed when I flew back to Santiago from Montevideo (in Uruguay) in mid-June. Just before boarding the outward flight 5 days earlier, I had suffered a double fracture in my shoulder (not LAN's fault) which was not properly diagnosed at the iarport clinic, so I did not cancel my trip. Three days before the return leg, I advised the airline that I would require some assistance for the return journey. None was provided, and when I insisted, a duty clerk said I was to blame for not putting the request in the "original booking" (which was made 12 days before my mishap!), and dismissed me rudely..This was not the worst of it. When I reported the story to some 8 or 9 senior and mid-level management, as well as through the usual customer service procedure, not a single one of those "friends" even ackowledged the complaint, despite three chasers. I have now written to the CEO and the chairman. Let us see what happens. What a pity, as it was about the only service company in Chile that was decently run in the past. Comments [ 0 ] |

| Review: | LAN: Ripping Off Americans Poor customer service. Sets arbitrary conditions on flights. Staff is not helpful. They charge almost double if you are calling from US. They have no qualms about charging you beyond their stated policy charges for flight changes. If you are looking to make changes, they try to force you to pay higher fees by placing arbitrary conditions that were never outlined. VERY UNETHICAL IF NOT ILLEGAL. Comments [ 0 ] |
